The Pioneer Museum is both a museum and a historic site that brings the area’s rich German heritage to life.

In 2023, The Pioneer Museum renovated the Staudt-Jenschke House on the corner of San Antonio and Milam St. MPLA was tasked with linking the visitor experience from the main campus to the newly renovated Sunday House. Through a series of design meetings with the Gillespie County Historical Society, MPLA created a landscape plan that successfully connected the campus. This was achieved using meandering paths, interpretive signage, native plants along a functional dry-creek bed, two custom-built footbridges, and a repurposed historic windmill strategically placed within a 1,400 sf limestone courtyard.

MPLA designed and installed the project.
